Seven Reasons to Experience High Fuel Consumption

The fuel pricing are becoming high and high and it becomes very expensive to use more and more petroleum in your vehicles. In our day to day activities, we need to use the fuel to go anywhere to complete our tasks or the business activities. The gas is also used in some vehicles and we need to use CNG in our vehicles to become able to carry out our daily activities. There is variation in consumption of the gas in the car depending on various factors including temperature, traveling environment, and long trips will also play the role in our fuel efficiency. The internal workings of the car can also affect the fuel efficiency. When you keep track of your mileage, you will have to fill up and get some valuable insights in the car and its mechanical fitness, which can help you to save some money, which is spent on the repair of the vehicles. There are Seven Reasons to Experience High Fuel Consumption.

Parts of Your Car that Affect Fuel Consumption

1. Oil

You need to change the oil in the vehicle at regular intervals, which are recommended by the manufacturer and it can help the users to keep the fuel consumption low. If the fuel efficiency is declining and you have not changed the oil in recent past, the old oil can become an issue for your vehicle.

The manufacturers have improved the fuel consumption in the new cars and they have developed the oil technologies, which can help you to change oil after every 7000 to 10,000 miles. When you compared with the old cars, which required oil changes after every 3,000 miles, it improves the fuel economy and it save the time and money.

2. Oxygen Sensors, air filters, spark plugs and fuel injectors

The four parts of your car including oxygen sensors, air filters, spark plugs and fuel injectors seems unrelated to your gas mileage and they can leave bad impact on the fuel consumption of your car. If the gas usage has increased in recent month, you need to ensure that these parts are clean and they work efficiently.

3. Tires

If the tire pressure indicator does not beam brightly, the tires may be considered as under-inflated and this car can cause the decrease in fuel efficiency. The tire with low air pressure can need more fuel to accelerate so you need to use the simple tire pressure gauge to check the air pressure in each tire of the car. When you start your car in the morning, you need to check the tire air pressure as the give cool tires will give accurate air pressure reading.

If you find that the tires look under-inflated, you have already missed the time to get them inflated in order to save your time and money as the poorly inflated tire can take more power to drive. The tires decrease the traction and they increase the number of time the tire rotate to move the same amount of distance. You need to know that you should fill the tires to recommended psi as over-inflation and under-inflation can give negative influence on the fuel consumption.

4. Air Conditioning

On the hot days, most of the people use air conditioner in their car and it can give more strain on your engine and it leave bad impact on the fuel efficiency. If the internal temperature of your car is lower than the exterior temperature, you need to lower down the window of the car. When you are driving the car at the highway, it is better to keep the windows closed as it reduces the amount of drag on the vehicle.
Habits that Affect Fuel Consumption

5. Idling

If you are staying somewhere and the engine of your car is on, which is often forgotten, ignored or overlook, it can consume more gas in your car. If you are in a place, where you have to stay, you need to turn off the engine, which is better for fuel usage and it also prevents the unnecessary wear and tear of your car. If you are in a place, when you cannot turn off the engine as you have to go away, you need to keep the engine of your car turn off but keep it in neutral.

6. Using the Wrong Gear

If there is manual transmission in your car, you need to use appropriate gear. If you need to pull the heavy load, you should use lower gear and the engine does not have to work harder that its requirements. You need to use the higher gear, when you travel at the high speeds. You need to check the sound of your engine and you feel that it is overworking or under working, it wastes the gas.

7. Aggressive Driving

If someone has the habit of driving too fast, accelerating too quickly and stopping too suddenly, these three actions can lead to the high fuel consumption. You should accelerate slowly and drive the car at the great speed. You need to keep sufficient space between you and the person, who is driving ahead of you, so that you can stop your car gradually without applying the brakes suddenly. You should have brakeless deceleration, which can help to increase the fuel efficiency.

If you do not pay the attention to your fuel consumption, you need to take action. There are some vehicles, which can have sensors to do that and you should use the notebook to jot down the odometer, trip and fill up the readings, which is low-tech way to keep the track of your money and the fuel consumption.
