Trial Run of Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore

Orange Line Metro Train is the mega project, which has been launched in Lahore and now this project is near to complete. The OLMT has done the trial run on 26 February 2018 on its route and it will provide the facility of the travelling to about 250,000 passengers daily. This expensive project was started about 4 years before and it hit various historical places, when it was announced and the construction work was started. Then on the appeal of the local people and some political parties, this project was challenged in Lahore High Court and it ordered to stop the work on this project. This project was lingered on in the LHC for about 22 months.



On the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 08 December 2017, the route of the project was changed and the construction work was started once again. Some people complained that it chocked off the major business areas in the city like Lakshami Chown and the areas around GPO. Now the authority concerned announced that four more train sets have been ordered for the 27.1 kilometers long orange line project. The construction work on the 12 km long portion of track from Dera Gujran to Lakshmi Chowk will be completed within this week and the orange line train has done its trial run on the previous day.
