Xiaomi Announces To Manufacture Its Own Car
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has reportedly announced to build a car and news and rumors in this regard are surfacing on the internet. Recently, iFengNews claimed that Xiaomi is working on building its own car.
The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, will directly head the car manufacturing project. This is not the first time that Chinese smartphone OEM has shown interest in the automobile industry.
In 2013, Lee Jun twice visited the United States to meet with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Later, in 2019, the company partnered with Bestune and launched a Redmi branded Bestune T77 SUV that came with a Mi AI speaker and Xiao AI assistant. The car was sold through Xiaomi's Youpin platform.
It seems that due to the current stagnation, the company's interest in the auto industry has increased as it faces the smartphone market where the popularity of electric smart cars is on the rise.
However, we do not yet know what to expect as Xiaomi declined to comment on the matter. The company will announce its plans as soon as possible.
