. Why Does My Elantra’s Paint Look Different on Repainted Panels After Accident Repair?

After a minor accident, I had the front fender of my Elantra repainted. Now, the color seems slightly off compared to the rest of the car. Is paint matching a known issue with Hyundai’s color codes in Pakistan, o r was it just poor workmanship?

Paint mismatch after repair is a common issue, especially when work is done at local workshops instead of authorized service centers. Here’s why it happens:

Hyundai’s factory paint is applied with advanced methods e.g., robotic spraying, oven curing that are hard to replicate manually.

Slight differences in paint mixing, quality of materials, and drying conditions lead to mismatched tones.

Metallic o r pearl finishes are especially hard to match because of the way light reflects off the flakes.

To avoid mismatch:

Always get repairs done at Hyundai-approved body shops.

Request blending techniques, where adjacent panels are lightly sprayed to make the difference less noticeable.

Use genuine Hyundai paint codes and high-quality clear coat.

Even then, a perfect match is rarely guaranteed without repainting a broader area.
