. Why does my Jeep Cherokee get so many scratches and swirl marks even after regular washing?

Despite regular washing of my 2017 Jeep Cherokee in Islamabad, the body has developed a lot of fine scratches and swirl marks, especially visible under sunlight. I use a cloth and shampoo, but the paint still looks worn out. Is this due to poor washing technique o r weak paint quality? What’s the best way to wash and maintain the paint in Pakistani conditions?

This is one of the most common paint issues in Pakistan and is usually due to poor washing technique o r low-quality materials.

Main reasons:

Using rough cloths, dirty sponges, o r towels.

Dry wiping the surface especially dusty cars.

Circular motion while washing o r drying with pressure.

Low-quality car shampoos o r detergents.

How to fix and prevent:

Use the two-bucket wash method one for soapy water, one for rinsing the sponge.

Always use a microfiber wash mitt and microfiber drying towel.

Avoid circular motions — use straight-line motions.

Invest in pH-neutral car shampoo and avoid using surf o r shampoo mixtures.

For existing swirls, consider paint correction machine polishing from a professional detailer.

For long-term protection, apply a paint sealant o r ceramic coating — it not only adds gloss but also makes washing easier and safer for the paint.
