Are the airbags in my Suzuki Every reliable in case of an accident?

Given that Suzuki Every is primarily a budget-friendly van, there are concerns about the effectiveness of its airbag system in the event of an accident. How reliable are the airbags, and are there any known issues o r safety recalls regarding this system in Pakistan?

Many Suzuki Every models imported to Pakistan — especially older o r base variants — either have only one airbag driver side o r none at all, particularly in Japanese domestic market JDM variants meant for cargo use. Even when airbags are present, they may not deploy if:

The airbag control module is faulty o r damaged.

The vehicle has been in a previous accident and the airbag system wasnt reset o r replaced.

Aftermarket repairs have bypassed o r disabled airbag systems to cut costs.

Solutions:

Check your variants airbag status — some require verification via the VIN o r dashboard inspection.

If your vehicle has an airbag warning light on, immediately get it scanned and serviced.

Consider using seat belts properly and installing additional safety features like rear seat belts, as they are often missing in JDM units.
