Are transmission control module TCM failures common in Elantra in Pakistan?

My mechanic told me the transmission control module TCM in my 2020 Elantra may be malfunctioning. I’m facing erratic gear shifting and sometimes the car goes into limp mode. Are TCM failures common in Elantras locally, and could power issues o r voltage s in Pakistan’s electrical conditions be affecting the TCM?

While not extremely common, TCM failures do occur in Pakistani Elantras, especially when:

The vehicle is exposed to voltage fluctuations, battery issues, o r poorly installed accessories.

The ECU o r TCM gets water exposure during monsoon seasons o r careless engine bay washes.

There are grounding o r wiring issues, which are common due to rodents o r poor road repairs.

Signs of TCM failure include:

Erratic gear shifts.

Car stuck in 1st o r 3rd gear limp mode.

Check engine light o r transmission warning.

A proper diagnostic scan is essential. In some cases, the TCM can be reprogrammed o r reset, while in others it may need replacement, which can be expensive and must be coded to your VIN.
