Brake Pedal Feels Soft and Goes Down Too Much – Could It Be Due to Brake Pad Wear?

The brake pedal on my Suzuki Every feels very soft and goes quite low before the brakes engage properly. This happens even without any brake fluid leak. I drive in Faisalabad, and I haven’t changed the brake pads in over a year. Can worn brake pads cause this soft pedal feeling?

Worn brake pads alone typically don’t cause a soft pedal. A soft o r spongy brake pedal usually results from:

Air in brake lines due to leaking o r improper bleeding.

Brake fluid leaks check around calipers, lines, master cylinder.

Problems with the master cylinder o r brake booster.

That said, extremely worn pads may cause the pedal to travel farther as the caliper piston extends more to compensate.

What to do:

Check for brake fluid leaks and top up fluid.

Bleed the brake system to remove air.

Inspect pads and replace if very thin.

If problem persists, have master cylinder and brake booster checked.
