Can a Dirty Air Filter o r Spark Plugs Affect My Hyundai Elantra’s Fuel Economy? Detail:

I haven’t changed the air filter o r spark plugs in over 20,000 km. Now I’ve noticed my Elantra’s fuel average ping significantly. Could clogged filters o r worn-out spark plugs cause poor mileage in this car? How often should these be replaced in Pakistani conditions, and can they actually impact fuel economy by a large margin?
