Can a faulty purge control valve cause poor fuel economy in Suzuki Every?

My Suzuki Every’s fuel average has ped significantly. It also smells like unburnt fuel sometimes. Could a stuck-open o r malfunctioning purge valve be causing fuel vapors to enter the intake at the wrong time?

Yes, a malfunctioning purge control valve can lead to increased fuel consumption, especially if it’s stuck open o r leaking. Heres why:

Fuel vapors enter the engine at the wrong time, disrupting the air-fuel ratio.

Unmetered fuel vapors cause the engine control unit ECU to compensate by adding more fuel.

Increased idling o r rough operation may force you to use more throttle, burning more fuel.

Fuel smell from the engine bay o r exhaust could indicate vapor loss.

This is especially problematic with low-quality fuel o r prolonged idling in hot weather—both common in Pakistan.
