Can clogged AC filters o r cabin air filters affect cooling in Elantra in dusty cities like Karachi o r Multan?

My 2022 Hyundai Elantra’s AC isn’t blowing cold air like before. A friend mentioned that dust and pollution in Pakistani cities can clog the cabin o r AC filter. Could this be why cooling has ped? How often should filters be cleaned o r replaced in local conditions?

Absolutely. In cities like Karachi, Multan, o r Quetta, dust and smog can clog the cabin air filter AC filter within just a few months. A blocked filter restricts airflow and gives the illusion that the AC isn’t cooling, even when the system is working.

Signs:

Weak airflow from vents.

Bad smell from AC.

Whistling o r odd noise when fan speed increases.

What to do:

Replace the cabin filter every 10,000–15,000 km — sooner in dusty areas.

DIY check: The filter is located behind the glove box. You can pull it out and inspect it visually.

Using OEM o r high-quality filters helps trap pollutants better. Some filters even have activated carbon layers for extra odor and dust protection.
