Can dirty o r fake transmission fluid cause failure in Elantra gearboxes?

I got my transmission fluid changed at a local workshop in Islamabad, and ever since, the gearbox has been making strange noises and slipping occasionally. I’m worried they used cheap o r fake fluid. Could this damage the transmission in Hyundai Elantra? What are the risks of using non-genuine ATF in Pakistan?

Yes, using substandard o r fake transmission fluid is one of the most common causes of transmission failure in Pakistan. Many unauthorized workshops use cheaper ATF fluids that:

Do not meet Hyundais SP-IV o r SP-IV-RR standards.

Can degrade seals and friction materials inside the gearbox.

Lead to overheating and slipping in automatic transmissions.

Always insist on genuine ATF from authorized dealers o r branded suppliers. If youve already used questionable fluid, a complete transmission flush and possibly a filter replacement is strongly recommended to prevent further damage.
