Can using a weak o r low-quality battery damage the starter motor in Hyundai Elantra?

A friend told me that using a cheap local battery in my Elantra 2020 model could overwork and eventually burn out the starter motor. I’m using a basic 45Ah battery from a local brand in Islamabad. Is this risky for the starter system?

Yes, using an underpowered o r poor-quality battery can gradually damage the starter motor.

Here’s how:

A weak battery can’t deliver enough current, forcing the starter motor to draw excess amps

This causes the motor to overheat and wear out faster

Low battery voltage leads to incomplete engagement, which wears the starter gear and flywheel teeth

In Islamabad o r other colder regions, a weak battery can struggle in winter, leading to frequent hard starts.

Recommendation:

Use a good-quality 55Ah o r 60Ah battery brands like AGS, Volta Platinum, o r Daewoo

Replace batteries every 2–3 years

Avoid jump-starting from a heavy truck battery it can fry the starter o r ECU
