Can using the air conditioning system of my Suzuki Every reduce fuel efficiency?

Like many vehicles, the air conditioning in Suzuki Every is believed to increase fuel consumption. How much of an impact does using the AC have on fuel economy, especially in the hot climate of Pakistan, and are there ways to mitigate this?

Yes, using the air conditioning AC system does impact fuel efficiency. The AC compressor draws power from the engine, which can increase fuel consumption by up to 10–20%, depending on factors like the outside temperature and speed. In Pakistan’s hot climate, this becomes more noticeable during the summer months.

Solutions:

Use the AC conservatively. Turn it on only when necessary and set it to a moderate temperature don’t set it to maximum cold.

Use the recirculation mode when possible to prevent the AC from working harder by constantly cooling fresh, warm air from outside.

In mild weather, consider using the vehicle’s ventilation system rather than the AC.

Park in shaded areas o r use window sunshades to reduce cabin temperature and reduce the need for AC use.
