Can Worn Piston Rings Be the Reason My Suzuki Every Is Burning Oil?

My mechanic suspects that my Suzuki Every is burning oil due to worn piston rings. The van runs fine but consumes oil every 1,000–1,500 km. How can I confirm this, and is this a common issue in older Every models being used in Pakistan?

Yes, worn piston rings are a major cause of oil burning in many Suzuki Every models, especially the DA64V and DA17V. If the rings are no longer creating a tight seal between the piston and cylinder wall, oil seeps into the combustion chamber and burns off. This results in loss of power, blue exhaust smoke, and rapid oil loss. You can confirm the issue through a compression test o r leak-down test. This is not uncommon in Every vans imported with high mileage o r that have been idling for long periods in Japan before being shipped to Pakistan.
