Does the Hyundai Elantra in Pakistan come with fewer safety features than international models?

I’ve noticed that the Elantra in international markets has more safety features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and more airbags. But in Pakistan, even the top variant seems to lack these. Why does Hyundai Nishat offer reduced safety specs in the local Elantra? How does it compare to rivals like Civic o r Corolla in this regard?

Yes, the Hyundai Elantra assembled by Hyundai Nishat in Pakistan comes with significantly fewer safety features compared to international models like those sold in the U.S., Korea, o r UAE.

Key missing features in the Pakistani Elantra:

Blind Spot Monitoring

Lane Keep Assist / Lane Departure Warning

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Autonomous Emergency Braking AEB

More than 2 airbags only front airbags are offered

This is likely due to:

Cost-cutting measures to keep the price competitive.

Lack of regulatory pressure in Pakistan to offer advanced driver-assistance systems ADAS.

Lower public awareness about safety feature demands compared to performance o r luxury.

In comparison, the Honda Civic offers 6 airbags and optional Honda Sensing in some trims internationally, and the Toyota Corolla Altis Grande offers vehicle stability control and hill assist, putting pressure on Elantras safety value proposition.
