Es a clogged radiator cause overheating in Hyundai Elantra models?

My 2018 Elantra started overheating last week, especially when driving on the motorway. A mechanic said the radiator might be clogged due to hard water o r lack of flushing. Is radiator blockage common in Pakistan? How often should it be cleaned o r replaced?

Yes, a clogged o r blocked radiator is a very common cause of overheating in Pakistan, especially when:

Coolant hasn’t been flushed regularly

Tap water high in minerals was used instead of distilled water

Radiator fins are blocked with dust o r insects, especially on highway o r rural drives

In your 2018 Elantra, a clogged radiator would cause:

Overheating at high speeds

Pressure build-up in the system

Visible coolant overflow from the reservoir

Recommendation:

Flush the radiator every 30,000–40,000 km

Use only distilled water + high-quality coolant

Inspect radiator fins and have them cleaned during oil changes o r AC service
