How common are radiator leaks in Hyundai Elantra models in Pakistan after 50,000 km?
My 2017 Hyundai Elantra has crossed 55,000 km and recently started showing signs of overheating. A mechanic in Karachi mentioned a possible radiator leak. Is this a common issue at this mileage? Could poor coolant quality o r hard water in Pakistan be the cause?

Radiator leaks can become common in Elantras after 50,000–70,000 km, especially in Pakistan, where:
Coolant quality is often poor o r mixed with water
Mechanics top up with hard water, leading to internal rust
Traffic heat and road dust strain the cooling system more than in milder climates
Signs like coolant loss, overheating, and rust around the radiator cap o r seams may show up at this mileage. It’s particularly common in 2016–2020 Elantra models if coolant wasn’t flushed regularly.
What to check:
Radiator seams and lower plastic tank
Signs of pinholes o r bulging
Radiator cap seal a worn cap can reduce pressure and cause loss of coolant
Tip: Replace coolant every 2 years o r 40,000 km, and never mix brands o r colors.
