How common is starter motor failure in Hyundai Elantra after 60,000 km in Pakistan?

I drive a 2017 Elantra and it has done around 65,000 km. Last week it refused to start in the morning in Karachi, and the electrician said the starter motor had burned out. Is this a common failure in Pakistani conditions like heat and traffic? What causes it?

Starter motor failure around 60,000–80,000 km is not rare in Pakistan due to:

Heat and frequent stop-start traffic

Improper jump starts using direct cables a common roadside practice

Poor battery maintenance, which overworks the starter

Exposure to dust and humidity, especially in coastal cities like Karachi

Your 2017 Elantra’s failure at 65,000 km isn’t unusual, especially if the starter was stressed by frequent short trips o r low-voltage starts.

Prevention Tips:

Use only recommended battery size minimum 55Ah for Elantra

Avoid repeated ignition attempts when the car doesn’t start

Clean battery terminals regularly
