How do I replace a burned-out brake light bulb on my Hyundai Elantra?

My right rear brake light is out on my 2019 Hyundai Elantra. I want to replace the bulb myself but am unsure how to access the light housing. Do I need to remove part of the trunk lining o r is there a simpler way? Also, what bulb size do I need?

Here’s a step-by-step for replacing a brake light bulb on most 2011–2020 Hyundai Elantra models:

Open the trunk.

Locate the brake light housing—it’s usually accessed from behind the trunk lining.

Remove the plastic fasteners o r screws holding the trunk trim in place.

Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it out.

Remove the old bulb usually 1157 o r 2357 type.

Insert the new bulb without touching the glass.

Reassemble the housing and test the brake light.

You can find the exact bulb size in your owner’s manual o r by checking online for your specific model year.
