How to diagnose alternator problems in a 2021 Hyundai Elantra in Pakistan?
I’m getting dim headlights and sluggish electrical features in my 2021 Elantra, especially during nighttime driving. Could this be due to a faulty alternator? What local diagnostic steps should I take o r ask a mechanic to perform before replacing it?

If your headlights dim and electronics behave erratically, this could indicate alternator trouble. Heres how to diagnose it locally:
Step 1: Voltage test
Use a multimeter to check the battery voltage. It should be:
12.4–12.7V when off
13.8–14.5V when running
If the voltage doesn’t rise when the engine starts, the alternator isn’t charging.
Step 2: Listen for unusual sounds
A whining o r grinding noise can point to worn alternator bearings.
Step 3: Check belt tension
A loose belt will slip and fail to turn the alternator properly.
Step 4: Scan for codes
Ask a local workshop to scan for diagnostic trouble codes DTCs, especially P0562 low system voltage.
Regular checks at each oil change interval can prevent surprises, especially under Pakistan’s high-heat conditions.
