Is engine overheating in Hyundai Elantra related to poor coolant quality in Pakistan?

I’ve been using locally available coolant in my 2016 Elantra Islamabad, but the engine still gets hot after long drives. Some friends say the quality of coolant available in Pakistan is poor and may not protect the engine well. Should I import coolant o r use a specific brand?

Yes, coolant quality in Pakistan is a major factor in engine overheating. Many drivers unknowingly use:

Colored water labeled as coolant

Substandard o r fake coolant brands

Water from taps o r tankers with high mineral content hard water

This leads to:

Scale buildup in the radiator and hoses

Rust inside the water pump and engine block

Reduced boiling point, meaning the coolant evaporates under heat

Solution:

Always use a reputable coolant brand like Caltex Havoline, Toyota Long Life, o r Hyundai OEM.

Never mix coolants o r top up with plain water.

Replace coolant every 40,000 km o r 2 years, and flush the system using distilled water.
