Is removing the catalytic converter from my Suzuki Every a good idea for performance o r mileage?

Many local mechanics in Pakistan suggest removing the catalytic converter kat from Suzuki Every vans to improve performance and fuel average. Is this actually effective, o r does it cause other issues? What are the risks of removing it, especially related to engine health, environment, and legal inspections if any?

Mechanically, removing the catalytic converter may temporarily improve performance and reduce engine load, especially in older o r clogged systems. That’s why many local mechanics recommend it. However, its not ideal for the long term.

Risks of removing the catalytic converter:
Engine light may stay on unless ECU is reprogrammed

Harmful emissions pollution and bad smell

Reduced resale value

Can cause sensor errors and affect fuel-air ratio over time

Alternative suggestion:
Instead of removing it, try professionally cleaning o r replacing it with a high-flow aftermarket catalytic converter if needed.
