Is the Hyundai Elantra AC compressor known to fail in Pakistans hot climate?

I’ve heard that some Elantra owners in Pakistan experience compressor failure. My AC used to work fine, but now it makes a clicking noise and doesn’t blow cold air. Could this be a compressor issue? Is this a known problem in our local climate o r due to poor roads o r dust?

Yes, there have been reported cases of compressor failure in Hyundai Elantra models especially 2021–2023 in Pakistan. High temperatures, inconsistent quality of locally assembled parts, and poor maintenance are contributing factors.

Common causes of compressor failure:

Running the AC with low refrigerant causes overheating and seizing.

Poor-quality compressor clutch o r relay.

Lack of lubrication in the AC system due to gas leaks.

Symptoms:

AC starts warm and never cools.

Clicking o r grinding noise under the hood.

Compressor doesn’t engage even though the fan works.

Solution:
Have a Hyundai-authorized workshop run a diagnostic check. Compressor replacement can be costly Rs. 60,000–100,000, so check for warranties o r extended coverage if under 5 years/100,000 km.
