Is the Hyundai Elantra’s leather seat material prone to wear and fading in Pakistan’s heat?

The leather seats in my Elantra are starting to show signs of wear and slight discoloration after less than a year, especially the driver’s seat. I park in shaded areas and try to maintain them, but the hot weather seems to take a toll. Are other users in Pakistan facing the same issue with the seat material quality?

Yes, Elantra owners in hot regions of Pakistan like Karachi, Lahore, Multan have observed that the leatherette artificial leather used in seats tends to:

Fade o r discolor, especially on the driver’s seat.

Crack o r wrinkle over time with prolonged sun exposure.

Feel hot to sit on if the car is left in direct sunlight.

This is not genuine leather but a PU polyurethane leatherette, which is less durable and more heat-sensitive.

Tips to protect seat material:

Use sunshades when parked.

Apply UV-protective leather conditioners every 1–2 months.

Install seat covers breathable fabric o r quality leatherette to protect the originals.
