Is water pump failure common in Hyundai Elantra models in Pakistan after 50,000 km?

My 2017 Elantra has done around 55,000 km, mostly in Karachi city driving. A mechanic mentioned that the water pump might be failing due to slight coolant leakage and engine noise. Is this a common issue for Elantra owners in Pakistan around this mileage?

Yes, it is not uncommon for water pumps to develop issues in Elantras after 50,000 to 70,000 km, especially under Pakistani driving conditions. High temperatures, stop-and-go traffic, and inconsistent quality of engine coolant o r tap water used for refills can accelerate wear.

Water pumps have seals and bearings that wear over time. When coolant is not changed regularly o r the wrong type is used common with roadside mechanics, these seals can degrade faster.

In places like Karachi o r Faisalabad, where traffic and heat are intense, preventive inspection around 50,000 km is a smart idea. If you notice coolant loss, engine noise, o r overheating, have your pump checked before it causes engine damage.
