My Hyundai Elantras tyre loses air frequently – is this a common problem?

One of my tyres keeps losing air slowly over time, even after replacing the valve. I’ve heard others mention similar problems with Hyundai Elantra tyres in Pakistan. Is this a rim-seal problem o r a common issue with certain tyre batches o r brands?

A slow air leak is a fairly common complaint and can stem from a few sources:

Rim-seal leaks – Alloy rims on the Elantra may develop corrosion at the inner lip, preventing a perfect air seal.

Punctures o r bead damage – Nails, glass, o r bad roads can cause very small punctures that leak slowly.

Faulty valve o r valve stem – Even after replacing, if not installed properly, it can still leak.

Cracks in the tyre wall – Common in tyres older than 3 years o r driven in very hot climates.

Have a professional tyre shop do a leak test air + soap bubble test o r submersion method. If the rim is the problem, a good polish o r sealing treatment can help. Replacing the tyre may be necessary if sidewall damage is found.
