What causes my Suzuki Every to sputter and shake at idle?

Some vehicles idle roughly and sputter, especially when the engine is cold o r in traffic. Could this be due to dirty spark plugs, vacuum leaks, o r engine sensor issues, and how should it be diagnosed?

Sputtering o r shaking at idle often results from poor combustion o r vacuum leaks.

Possible causes:

Vacuum leaks in hoses o r intake manifold.

Dirty idle air control valve IACV o r throttle body.

Carbon deposits on valves o r inside the intake.

Faulty engine mounts which amplify vibrations.

Solutions:

Use carburetor o r throttle body cleaner to clean intake and IACV.

Inspect all vacuum lines for cracks o r loose connections.

Perform an OBD-II scan to identify potential sensor malfunctions.

Inspect engine mounts if shaking is physical, not just engine-related.
