What causes radiator leaks in Jeep Cherokee in Pakistan’s extreme weather and road conditions?

My 2014 Jeep Cherokee recently developed a radiator leak, and the mechanic says the radiator is cracked. I drive in Lahore where temperatures can get very high, and the roads are often bumpy. Is radiator failure common in these conditions? Could it be due to poor water quality, cheap coolant, o r pressure buildup in the system?

Radiator leaks are fairly common in Pakistan due to a combination of heat, poor road conditions, and low coolant quality.

🔥 Causes in Pakistani Conditions:

High temperatures stress the radiator, especially with stop-and-go traffic and AC on full blast.

Rough roads and vibrations can crack plastic radiator tanks o r loosen hose clamps.

Use of tap water o r poor-quality coolant leads to corrosion and internal damage.

Pressure build-up from a stuck thermostat o r faulty radiator cap.

Aging rubber hoses that become brittle o r crack.

🛠️ Prevention Tips:

Use only high-quality coolant, not plain water o r cheap green liquid.

Flush the cooling system every 30,000–40,000 km.

Replace the radiator cap every 2–3 years — it’s cheap and essential.

Drive gently on broken roads and avoid overloading the cooling system.

✅ Use coolant from known brands like ZIC, Havoline, o r Liqui Moly, available in most major Pakistani auto stores.
