Why do the headlight bulbs on my Hyundai Elantra burn out so quickly?
I own a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, and Ive had to replace the headlight bulbs multiple times over the last two years. I’m using standard halogen bulbs, and they seem to last only 6–12 months. Is this a common issue? Could there be an underlying electrical o r design flaw causing premature burnout?

Premature headlight bulb failure is a fairly common complaint among Hyundai Elantra owners, especially for models between 2011–2018. The most common causes include:
High electrical system voltage: The Elantra’s alternator may output slightly higher voltage than average, which can shorten halogen bulb life.
Vibration: If the bulbs are not properly secured o r the housing is loose, vibrations while driving can wear out the filaments faster.
Oil contamination: Touching the bulb glass with bare fingers can leave oil residue that causes hot spots and shortens bulb life.
Cheap bulbs: Low-cost aftermarket halogens often don’t last long. Consider using long-life halogen o r LED bulbs if compatible.
Tip: Use gloves when replacing bulbs, and consider upgrading to long-life halogen o r LED for better durability.
