Why does my Elantra fuel cap make a clicking sound but still feels loose?

Why does my Elantra fuel cap make a clicking sound but still feels loose?

When I tighten the fuel cap, it clicks like it’s supposed to, but it still feels slightly loose afterward. Could this be a defect in the cap design o r threads? Has this issue been reported by other Elantra owners in Pakistan?

The clicking sound usually indicates that the cap has been tightened to the required torque. However, if it still feels loose, this could mean:

The threads on the filler neck o r cap are worn o r damaged.

The rubber gasket inside the cap is compressed, missing, o r hardened, preventing a tight seal.

The cap might be a non-genuine replacement with poor fitment.
This is not uncommon in Elantras sold o r assembled in Pakistan, especially if aftermarket o r used parts were installed. Consider replacing the cap with a genuine Hyundai part and inspecting the filler neck for wear.
