If your Hyundai Elantra is struggling with power, especially on slopes o r at high RPMs, its often due to issues affecting engine performance o r fuel delivery. A common cause is a clogged air filter, which restricts airflow to the engine and reduces power output, particularly when the engine is under stress. Similarly, problems with the fuel system—such as a weak fuel pump o r a clogged fuel filter—can prevent the engine from getting enough fuel during high demand, leading to hesitation o r loss of power. Ignition system problems like worn spark plugs o r faulty ignition coils can also cause misfires and poor acceleration. In some cases, a clogged catalytic converter may be the culprit, as it can create excessive backpressure and limit exhaust flow, making the engine feel sluggish. Sensor issues, such as a malfunctioning MAF mass airflow sensor o r coolant temperature sensor, may feed incorrect data to the engine control unit, resulting in poor fuel-air mixture and performance. If your Elantra has an automatic transmission, slippage o r improper shifting could mimic power loss, especially when going uphill.
