Why does my Elantra take too long to engage in Drive o r Reverse?

My 2019 Hyundai Elantra takes a few seconds to respond when shifting into Drive o r Reverse, especially in the morning. This delay wasn’t there before. Could this be due to low transmission pressure, o r is it an early sign of internal failure? Is this a known issue in Elantras in Pakistan’s climate?

A delay in shifting into Drive o r Reverse, especially when cold, can be due to:

Low transmission fluid level o r degraded ATF.

Worn clutch packs o r internal seals, which lose pressure and delay engagement.

Transmission pump issues, which are responsible for building pressure quickly.

In Pakistan’s high-temperature environment, rubber seals and valves inside the transmission degrade faster. Delays should not be ignored, as this could lead to complete gearbox failure if not diagnosed early. A fluid change and pressure test can help isolate the problem.
