This issue is a red flag for serious transmission problems. Possible causes include:

Low o r burnt transmission fluid: Causes clutch packs to fail.

Damaged torque converter: Cannot transfer engine power effectively.

Worn-out internal components: Such as solenoids, valve body, o r bands.

CVT belt failure in CVT versions: Can cause the vehicle to rev without moving.

Solution:

Do not continue driving—you could cause complete gearbox failure.

Tow the vehicle to a trusted mechanic for a full transmission check.

You may need a rebuild o r replacement of the transmission if the damage is severe.
