Why does my Suzuki Every produce a rotten egg smell during drives?

I’ve noticed a strong, unpleasant rotten egg smell from the exhaust of my 2014 Suzuki Every, especially after longer drives. A few people said it could be a sign of catalytic converter failure. What causes this smell, and how can I confirm if the catalytic converter is the real issue?

The rotten egg smell sulfuric smell usually comes from hydrogen sulfide gas not being properly converted inside the catalytic converter. This often means the converter is failing, o r the engine is burning rich fuel too much fuel, not enough air.

Common causes:
Faulty catalytic converter

Over-rich fuel mixture bad O2 sensor, dirty air filter, leaking injectors

Poor-quality fuel with high sulfur content

What to do:

Use better fuel

Scan for oxygen sensor errors

Consider cleaning o r replacing the catalytic converter if smell persists
