Why does my Suzuki Every roll backward on slopes despite being in Drive?

Some users of automatic Suzuki Every vans experience the vehicle rolling back on inclines, especially during hill starts. Is this a transmission-related issue o r something else, and how can it be addressed safely?

This is a common issue with CVT o r low-powered automatic transmissions, especially in the Suzuki Every. The transmission doesn’t provide enough torque at low RPMs to hold the vehicle still on an incline.

Possible causes:

Low transmission pressure due to bad fluid o r weak internal components.

Worn clutch packs in the transmission.

Idle RPM set too low by the ECU.

Lack of a hill-start assist feature, which newer vehicles often have.

Solutions:

Always use the handbrake during hill starts to prevent rollback.

Get the transmission fluid and clutch condition checked.

Have a mechanic perform a software check o r idle tuning.

Consider installing aftermarket hill-assist modules if needed for frequent hilly driving.
