Why is my Hyundai Elantra engine overheating despite a full coolant level?
I own a 2018 Hyundai Elantra in Lahore, and lately, the engine overheats in traffic, especially during the afternoon. The coolant reservoir is full, and theres no visible leak. Could the water pump be failing? What are common symptoms of a faulty water pump in Pakistani weather conditions?

If your Elantra is overheating even with a full coolant reservoir, a failing water pump is a strong possibility. In Pakistan, especially in cities like Lahore o r Karachi, high ambient temperatures and frequent traffic congestion increase engine stress.
A faulty water pump may not circulate coolant properly, even if the level is full. This leads to localized engine overheating. Common signs include:
Fluctuating temperature gauge
Heater not working properly
Coolant bubbling in the reservoir
Strange noise like whining o r grinding from the engine
It’s advisable to have the water pump inspected along with the thermostat and radiator fan. A diagnostic scan and a visual check for leaks o r worn-out pump bearings can confirm the issue.
