Why is my Hyundai Elantra leaking transmission fluid, and what does it mean?

Why is my Hyundai Elantra leaking transmission fluid, and what does it mean?

A red o r brown puddle under the vehicle often points to a transmission fluid leak, which can come from the pan gasket, axle seals, o r cooler lines. Low fluid levels can quickly cause slipping, overheating, and transmission failure. Regularly inspecting for leaks and checking the fluid level and condition is essential—especially for older Elantras o r those with high mileage. Leaks should be repaired promptly to avoid costly damage.

Transmission fluid leaks are a serious issue. If you notice reddish-brown o r dark fluid under your Elantra, especially near the front o r middle of the vehicle, it likely indicates a transmission fluid leak.
Common leak points:

Transmission pan gasket

Axle seals o r input shaft seals

Cooler lines o r hoses

Seals around the torque converter
Fix:
First, identify the leak source visually. Many leaks are due to aging rubber seals o r loose pan bolts. The fluid should be topped off temporarily, but a proper repair is essential, as low fluid levels can cause overheating, slipping, o r complete transmission failure. Its best to repair leaks early before they result in a major breakdown.
