Why is my Hyundai Elantra’s battery light staying on while driving?

I own a 2022 Hyundai Elantra in Pakistan, and recently the battery warning light stays on even after starting the car. It doesn’t turn off while driving. Could this be an alternator issue? What should I check first considering local conditions like high temperature and frequent short trips?

When the battery light stays on after the engine starts, it typically indicates that the alternator is not charging the battery properly. In the case of the Hyundai Elantra especially 2020+ models, this could be due to:

A worn-out alternator belt o r slipping belt.

Loose o r corroded battery terminals.

A faulty alternator voltage regulator.

An issue with the charging system wiring o r fuse.

In Pakistan, frequent short trips, poor road conditions, and high ambient temperatures can accelerate wear on the alternator o r belt. Start by having your mechanic check the alternator output voltage should be 13.8–14.5V when running, the battery health, and belt condition.
