Why is my Suzuki Every transmission fluid discolored o r has a burnt smell?

Transmission fluid in the Suzuki Every should be clean and red, but some owners find it turning brown o r giving off a burnt odor. What does this mean, and what damage could it cause if not addressed?

Healthy transmission fluid should be red o r pink and smell neutral. If it appears brown o r smells burnt, it usually means:

The transmission is overheating, often due to low fluid levels o r degraded fluid.

The vehicle has been driven aggressively o r under heavy loads.

Theres internal wear, such as clutch pack damage o r metal debris.

Risks if ignored:

Accelerated wear of internal components.

Complete transmission failure over time.

Solutions:

Perform a fluid flush and inspect the magnetic drain plug for metal shavings.

Use manufacturer-recommended fluid.

Have the transmission inspected immediately if burnt fluid returns quickly after a change.
