Why is the center of my Elantra’s tire tread wearing out faster than the edges?

The center tread on my Hyundai Elantra’s tires is wearing significantly faster than the edges. I’m using the correct tire size and brand. Could this be due to overinflation o r something else?

Center tread wear is almost always a sign of overinflated tires.

Why it happens:

Overinflation causes the tire to bulge, so only the center contacts the road.

Over time, this reduces traction and tire lifespan.

Solution:

Check tire pressures when cold using a reliable gauge.

Inflate only to the manufacturer’s recommended PSI typically 32–35 PSI for most Elantras.

Dont use the max PSI on the tire sidewall—this is not the recommended pressure.

Overinflation can also result in a rougher ride and reduced braking performance.
