Fuel Prices Updated: Petrol Down, Diesel Slightly Up

In a significant move under its fortnightly fuel price review mechanism, the federal government has announced a petrol price drop starting from August 1, 2025, bringing partial relief to consumers. According to the latest fuel price update issued by the Finance Division on July 31, petrol rates have been reduced by Rs 7.54 per litre, while diesel prices have been marginally increased.

As per the official notification, the petrol price today has decreased from Rs 272.15 to Rs 264.61 per litre, delivering a noticeable petrol cost reduction for the next 15 days. Meanwhile, the high-speed diesel (HSD) rate has increased slightly by Rs 1.48 per litre, making the new price Rs 285.83, up from Rs 284.35 per litre.

Government Fuel Relief Amid Volatile Global Trends
This government fuel relief comes amid fluctuating international oil prices and domestic market dynamics. The drop in petrol rates is aimed at easing the burden on the public after recent hikes. Just two weeks ago, the government had raised petrol prices by Rs 5.36 per litre and diesel prices by Rs 11.37 per litre. The current revision reflects a strategic adjustment in response to market conditions and currency stability.
