Sazgar Prepares for Hybrid, Plug-In Vehicle Launch Pakistan
Sazgar is gearing up for a major milestone in the Pakistan EV Market as it prepares to start local vehicle production of three highly anticipated models from Great Wall Motors (GWM): the Tank 500 Pakistan, Poer Canon Pakistan, and Poer Canon Alpha. The Tank 500 Pakistan will be offered in two advanced powertrains, HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle), while the Poer Canon lineup will be introduced in PHEV form, catering to growing demand for hybrid vehicle Pakistan options.
According to Sazgar’s CEO, Ali Hameed, the locally assembled Sazgar Electric Cars will start rolling off the assembly line by March 2026, with the Poer Canon models following shortly afterward. This exciting development was announced during the Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) in Karachi, highlighting Sazgar’s commitment to expanding sustainable automotive solutions in Pakistan.
Tank 500 Pakistan HEV and PHEV Features
The Tank 500 HEV Pakistan will feature a spacious 7-seater configuration, ideal for families, while the PHEV version will come in a 5-seater setup for urban flexibility. Hameed clarified that although the Poer Canon series is available in diesel variants in China, Pakistan will exclusively receive petrol-engine versions due to local fuel standards. He also emphasized that the Canon is one of the most popular double-cabin pickups in China, further signaling its potential success in Pakistan’s automotive landscape.
Affordable Pricing for Locally Assembled Vehicles
Previously, the imported Tank 500 with HEV powertrain carried a hefty price of Rs. 4.5 crore. However, Hameed confirmed that the locally produced Tank 500 Pakistan will be far more affordable, expected to fall under Rs. 2.5 crore, making it a strong competitor in its segment considering its size, features, and advanced hybrid technology.
Expansion of Production Facilities
To support this ambitious launch, Sazgar is investing in the expansion of its manufacturing capabilities. The upgrade is expected to be completed within the next two months, boosting efficiency and ensuring a steady supply of upcoming cars Pakistan enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting. This move strengthens the Sazgar GWM Partnership, positioning Sazgar as a key player in shaping Pakistan’s future of hybrid vehicle Pakistan and plug-in vehicle Pakistan offerings.
