Top Cars with Best Resale Value in Pakistan
In Pakistan, unlike many parts of the world where cars are seen as liabilities, they are often considered significant investments. Many people go to great lengths, including using their life savings or selling properties, to purchase a car. The primary consideration for Pakistani car buyers is the vehicle's resale value, which determines how much the car will appreciate over a few years.
Focus on Resale Value:
The focus on resale value is key for most car buyers in Pakistan. Interestingly, cars in the country often appreciate in value over time, contrary to the global trend of depreciation. This appreciation can occur even after accounting for the costs associated with maintenance, running, and potential breakdowns, making cars seem like a worthwhile investment for many Pakistanis.
Long-Term Investment Perception:
Despite the expenses incurred during a car's usage, Pakistani people still view cars as long-term investments. This belief is supported by the market's history, where certain models have shown significant appreciation over the years. The following list includes some of the best cars known for their high resale value in the local market, based on trends from the past four years.
Top Appreciating Cars:
Suzuki Alto: Starting at 13 lacs PKR in 2019, the Alto's price has risen to 23 lacs PKR in 2024, showing a 60% appreciation. Despite the increased price, this car remains in high demand in the used market, making it a solid choice for investment.

Honda City: Priced at 27 lacs PKR in 2020, the Honda City now sells for 36 lacs PKR, a 28% appreciation. The model's appreciation rate is affected by the introduction of a new generation in 2021, but it still promises good returns.

Toyota Corolla: The Corolla saw a modest 10% appreciation, from 38 lacs PKR in 2020 to around 42 lacs PKR now. While not the highest appreciation, it remains a reliable option, especially for upper-middle-class buyers.

MG HS: Launched at 55 lacs PKR in 2020, the MG HS now has a market price of 80 lacs PKR, representing a 45% increase. The resale value of a used MG HS from 2020 stands at around 62-63 lacs PKR, a 15% appreciation, influenced by its branding as a Chinese-owned vehicle.

The High Appreciation of Honda Civic
The Honda Civic stands out with an impressive 175% appreciation over four years, from 37 lacs PKR in 2020 to 1.05 crore PKR in 2024. A used 2020 Civic now sells for at least 64 lacs PKR, a 73% increase. Despite some quality issues, the Civic remains a highly sought-after vehicle in Pakistan, maintaining strong resale value.
