Could hard Pakistani water o r coolant quality cause radiator corrosion and leaks in Tiggo 8 Pro?

I replaced the coolant a few months ago using locally available antifreeze mixed with tap water — I did not use distilled water. Could contaminated o r “hard” water be corroding the radiator internally o r damaging the rubber hoses/seals, leading to a slow leak over time? What signs should I check for to confirm corrosion-related leakage?

Yes, using hard water o r poor-quality antifreeze can accelerate internal corrosion:

Mineral deposits in hard water reduce heat transfer and can corrode metal parts.

Incompatible antifreeze may not provide sufficient anti-corrosion protection.

Signs of corrosion include rust-colored coolant, flaky residue in the radiator, o r small pinhole leaks.

Action: Flush the cooling system with distilled water and a recommended coolant, check hoses for softening o r cracks, and inspect the radiator core. Switching to high-quality, manufacturer-recommended coolant is crucial in Pakistan’s hard-water areas.
