Why does fuel efficiency and ride feel harsh after long highway drives — could irregular tyre pressure be responsible?

Why does fuel efficiency and ride feel harsh after long highway drives — could irregular tyre pressure be responsible?

After long trips o r frequent highway driving, I noticed fuel consumption seems higher than usual and the ride feels rough o r bumpier than normal. Tyres seem slightly worn at the edges. Could this be due to tyres being under‑inflated or uneven pressure distribution especially when the car is loaded, causing more rolling resistance and uneven wear? How important is maintaining proper tyre pressure for fuel economy, tyre life, and comfort in Tiggo 8 Pro — especially under Pakistan’s driving conditions?

Irregular o r under‑inflated tyres can cause higher fuel consumption and a rougher ride:

Fuel efficiency : Under‑inflated tyres have higher rolling resistance, requiring more engine power to maintain speed.

Ride harshness: Uneven tyre pressure o r slightly deflated tyres can make the suspension work harder, transmitting more bumps to the cabin.

Uneven wear: Low pressure causes the edges of the tyres to wear faster over-inflation wears the center faster.

Load sensitivity: If the car is carrying passengers o r cargo, tyre pressure should be adjusted to account for added weight.

Action:

Regularly check and adjust tyre pressure when the vehicle is cold.

Inspect tyres for edge wear and overall tread depth.

Rotate tyres and maintain proper inflation to optimize fuel economy, comfort, and tyre life under Pakistani road and climate conditions.
