Why does steering feel heavy o r sluggish at low speeds — could tyre pressure be too low?

Often when I drive my Tiggo 8 Pro around town slow speeds, city traffic, the steering feels heavier than usual — turning the wheel seems tougher, and the car feels less responsive o r “sluggish” on turns. I haven’t checked tyre pressure in a while. Could under‑inflated tyres be the cause? What pressure s o r tyre‑flex issues might lead to poor steering and stability in normal city driving?

Under‑inflated tyres can significantly affect steering and handling:

Heavier steering: Low tyre pressure increases rolling resistance, so more effort is required to turn the wheel.

Reduced responsiveness: Under‑inflated tyres deform more, which can make the car feel “sluggish” in city traffic.

Uneven wear risk: The edges of the tyre tread wear faster due to increased flexing.

Action:

Check all tyre pressures with a reliable gauge when tyres are cold.

Inflate tyres to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure usually found on the door jamb.

Inspect tyres for uneven edge wear and replace if necessary.
