Why do I hear a high‑pitched squealing sound when I apply brakes on my Tiggo 8 Pro?

Why do I hear a high‑pitched squealing sound when I apply brakes on my Tiggo 8 Pro?

: Every time I press the brake pedal — especially during light braking in city traffic — I hear a sharp squeal from the wheels. The sound sometimes disappears when I brake harder o r drive a bit, but it keeps recurring. Could this indicate that the brake pads are worn down wear‑indicator contacting rotor, o r might rotor rust / moisture o r cheap pads also cause this? What should I check first to confirm pad wear?

A high-pitched squeal usually indicates that the brake pads are approaching the end of their service life, but other factors can also contribute:

Brake pad wear indicator: Most brake pads have a thin metal strip that contacts the rotor when the pad material is low, creating a squealing warning.

Rotor surface contamination: Light rust, dust, o r moisture can cause temporary squeal, especially after rain o r washing the car.

Cheap o r hard pads: Some low-quality pads can squeal even when new.

Action:

Inspect brake pad thickness less than ~3 mm indicates replacement.

Check rotor surface for rust o r glazing.

Replace pads if worn, preferably with OEM o r high-quality aftermarket pads.
