Could tyre over‑inflation in hot weather cause tyre wear o r blowout risk on Tiggo 8 Pro?

With summer heat in parts of Pakistan, I worry that even if I set tyre pressure to recommended values in the morning, the heat during the day on long rides o r on highway might raise it dangerously — causing over‑inflation effects. Could this extra pressure lead to accelerated tread wear especially down the centre, reduce traction, o r even increase risk of tyre blowouts when driving at high speed on hot roads?

Yes, over‑inflation is risky, especially in Pakistan’s hot climate:

Increased central tread wear: Over‑inflated tyres bulge in the middle, causing the center of the tread to wear faster than the edges.

Reduced traction: Harder tyres have less contact with the road, lowering grip, especially on wet surfaces.

Blowout risk: Hot temperatures increase tyre pressure combined with over‑inflation, this can stress the tyre and increase the chance of a blowout at high speeds.

Action:

Set tyre pressure according to the car’s specification, not based on “cold vs hot” perception.

Check tyre pressure frequently during hot days o r long highway trips.

Avoid over‑inflating even slightly to compensate for heat expansion — tyres naturally gain 2–3 psi as they warm up.
