Engine Sputtering on CNG During Acceleration

Many Hyundai Santro owners notice that the engine begins to sputter o r jerk when accelerating, especially while driving on CNG. The problem is more noticeable when switching from idle to higher RPMs o r when the air conditioner is turned on. Sometimes the engine even stalls at low speeds. What could cause this sputtering issue on CNG, and how can it be properly diagnosed and resolved?

Possible Causes:

Weak o r dirty CNG reducer/kit common in older Santro setups

Blocked CNG filter

Incorrect CNG mixture settings

Faulty ignition coil o r plug wires Santro is sensitive to weak ignition on CNG

Dirty throttle body o r IAC valve

Vacuum leaks in CNG pipes o r intake manifold

Solutions:

Clean the CNG kit reducer and replace the CNG filter.

Adjust the CNG mixture/flow using a trained CNG technician.

Replace spark plugs use recommended heat range for Santro on CNG.

Check ignition coil and plug wires replace if weak.

Clean throttle body and Idle Air Control IAC valve.
